Wonderful World of Aquatic Plants (WWW) in Westland

The Association of Botanical Artists of the Netherlands is celebrating its 20th anniversary. In honor of the jubilee, the members have created botanical illustrations of aquatic plants. The 50 best entries can be admired at the Westlands Museum. These feature native and wild plants commonly found in ditches, ponds, and the dune area. The exhibition is on view at the Westlands Museum in Honselersdijk until October 18, 2026. The association has also issued a special stamp featuring various tulips.

Association of Botanical Artists of the Netherlands (2006 – 2026)

For the 20th anniversary of the Association of Botanical Artists of the Netherlands in 2026, a traditional sheet of 10 stamps has been issued. The tulip takes center stage on this special anniversary stamp, based on a watercolor by Anita Walsmit Sachs and designed by Dick Smit. They are being issued as sheets of 10 stamps. Aquatic plants

Water is indispensable in the Westland: it gives life to the landscape and forms the backbone of greenhouse horticulture and agriculture. We often walk past it without noticing, even though the ditches teem with plants and animals. The dune area is also rich in flora and fauna. This exhibition reveals the wondrous world of aquatic plants and will make you look at reeds, duckweed, and water flowers with different eyes from now on.

Year of the Botanical Gardens 2017

The year 2017 was declared the Year of the Botanical Gardens. Special exhibitions were organized in various gardens. The stamps depict ten plants and trees from ten botanical gardens.
