Pride Amsterdam 2025: The Message is LOVE
In a world where division is taking up more and more space, love offers a powerful answer. For Pride 2025, the theme LOVE takes center stage, not only as a symbol of romance, but also as a foundation for connection, understanding, and solidarity. Love captivates, binds, supports, and conquers. Pride Amsterdam runs from July 26 to August 3, 2025. The Netherlands has not issued any Pride stamps. Germany has this year.
Love Pride 2025: The Message is LOVE
LOVE is multifaceted and stands for, among other things, the attraction between people, the support people can give each other, and the never-ending struggle for equal rights that is waged together. The announcement of the theme LOVE also marks the start of preparations for the upcoming Pride Amsterdam 2025, including the 28th edition of the Canal Parade.
“Love is not weakness; it is decisiveness. It is listening without judgment, and building a society in which diversity is not only tolerated, but celebrated. Love is a choice, and Pride 2025 invites us to make that choice anew every day,” says Lucien Spee de Castillo Ruiz, executive director of Pride Amsterdam.
Canal Parade 2025
The world-famous Amsterdam Canal Parade. The boat parade sails through the Amsterdam canals on Saturday, August 2, 2025. The route is Oosterdok – Nieuwe Herengracht – Amstel – Prinsengracht – Westerdok. 80 participants can take part in the Canal Parade. Selection is based on the most beautiful boats and those that best align with the 2025 theme (LOVE).
WorldPride Amsterdam 2026
WorldPride Amsterdam will take place from July 25 to August 8, 2026. For the first time in history, Amsterdam will host WorldPride. WorldPride is a global event that promotes the visibility and awareness of LGBTI issues internationally. It is licensed by InterPride and organized by one of its members. Pride Amsterdam has been a member since 2011. The first WorldPride was held in Rome in 2000 and subsequently organized in Jerusalem, London, Toronto, Madrid, New York, Copenhagen, and Sydney. In 2025, Washington took over the organization.
The reason for bringing WorldPride to Amsterdam in 2026 is the fact that we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the opening of civil marriage to same-sex couples in that year. With this, the Netherlands made world history on April 1, 2001. Although many countries followed suit, there is still a long way to go in the fight for equal rights. Not only far from home, but also in Europe and our own Kingdom, LGBTI people are still not treated equally. In many places, equal and acquired rights are under pressure, and we, as the LGBTI community, must make our voices heard visibly and assertively. The opening of civil marriage triggered an initial wave, but progress is too slow. Therefore, the silver jubilee will once again inspire and connect the world with numerous events and activities.

Will PostNL issue a WorldPride Amsterdam 2026 stamp? During Europride Amsterdam 2016, two stamps with a design by Piet Paris were issued.
