Stamp blog, a bicycle and the “Bicycle list” together at POSTEX 2010

You are an avid fair-weather cyclist and collector of cycling stamps, and you know that Postzegelblog is also represented in Apeldoorn. So what do you do on this day with beautiful weather? That's right. You do both. So Sunday, on time ……. I enjoyed a delicious and hearty breakfast before traveling to Apeldoorn. It was wonderfully quiet on the road. An hour later, I walked into the America Hall and received a bag full of brochures, booklets, and two promotional pens. Even before I reached the Postzegelblog stand, I had already taken this photo. A bicycle completely covered in stamps!! Naturally, there was a competition associated with it asking the question: “How many stamps have been pasted on this bicycle?” Of course, you shouldn't ask a “Bicycle Collector” that, because they collect stamps with bicycles on them, not bicycles with stamps pasted on them! After I had viewed a large part of the stamp show, I “checked in” at Postzegelblog. My first personal meeting with Lia felt as if we already knew each other quite well. That is certainly true, of course, when you have become a regular author since the beginning of this year. Unfortunately, the planned meeting made “the meeting” a bit short. Naturally, I was still intrigued to “score” a few bicycle stamps. I contacted 't Crayenest in Gieten again, a specialist in themed stamps, with whom I used to have a subscription for years. For an update to my article about the Giro d'Italia, I found this stamp. Issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of this amazing cycling event. I also have an update to make for my article World Cycling Championships. In 2003, the Road World Championships were held in Canada. As a parting gift, I found a striking and nice philatelic bicycle map for my collection of bicycle maps.

And so we continue with the bikes. After arriving home, we enjoyed a delicious cup of soup, refilled our water bottles, and were able to go on another great bike ride together over the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. And from Amerongen, via the dike, with our faces in the sun and the wind at our backs, we headed back home. Sunday, October 17, 2010, was a wonderful cycling day for me in every respect.
