PostNL stamp issues first half of 2025

During the 25th edition of Postex 2024, PostNL presented its issuance program for the first half of 2025 on November 1st. However, I do not understand why this is for the first half of 2025 and not for the entire year, as is customary with other postal services. My conclusion is that it is a meager issuance program with few highlights. Surely there are more Dutch events or commemorations in 2025 than just the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam?

  Experience Nature – birds Sint Eustatius       17 February 2025 New Dutch Design – coffee and tea as a ritual       March 31 2025 Experience Nature – Butterflies Sint Eustatius     April 22, 2025 RomanReuzen is an initiative by interviewer Frénk van der Linden and photographer Fjodor Buis, in which fifty prominent Dutch novelists are being portrayed. The tour starts on April 18, 2025, in Hilversum, with an accompanying photo exhibition and the publication of a book about RomanReuzen. The goal of the RomanReuzen project is to contribute to combating the decline in reading, especially among young people. Through the donation, Rotary Soeterbeek intends to organize three events in collaboration with three libraries and three schools in the Eindhoven region. High school students will meet authors and conduct the interviews. Additionally, we are bringing the photo exhibition to Eindhoven. The project comprises various components such as:
  • 50 podcasts that are available for free to libraries, educational institutions, and the general public.
  • Interviews with writers in 50 libraries, in collaboration with local secondary schools.
  • Public actions on NS trains and meet-and-greet sessions with writers in Station Living Rooms.
  • Photo exhibition at Museum Hilversum, with a possible expansion to Eindhoven in late autumn 2025.
  • Promotions in Libris bookstores, including Van Piere in Eindhoven.
  • PostNL stamp series with photos of writers.
  • Masterclasses in interviewing and photography for young people at the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision.

During an archaeological excavation in the former early medieval trading town of Dorestad in the summer of 1969, the brooch was found in a well. The ornament may have been hidden in the well during the Viking raids in Dorestad. The brooch was presumably made in Burgundy between 775 and 800. The pin has a diameter of 8½ centimeters and is made of gold, decorated with cloisonné work and inlaid with various colors of glass, almandine (a red semi-precious stone), and pearls along the edge. The inlay displays Christian motifs, such as two interlocking crosses in the style of ecclesiastical metalwork. Some of the stones have been lost. The pin on the back, which allowed the brooch to be attached to clothing, has also disappeared. It is almost certainly a gift to a lady from the elite of Dorestad.     2024 Bonaire: birds, butterflies, underwater, flora.
    2025 St Eustatius: birds, butterflies, underwater, flora?
    So 2026 will come as no surprise. Saba: birds, butterflies, underwater, flora?

    Furthermore, I see New Dutch Design twice. Is that a kind of successor to Typisch Nederlands?

  3. New Dutch Design indeed seems to me to be the sequel to Typisch Nederlands. Everything has to be in English these days, doesn't it? 1? That explains it….

  8. I find the answer to Ramon's question a bit shortsighted. Surely you would expect the official stamp to be in place.
    I also wonder whether the NATO meeting is being honored with a postage stamp?

  9. The NATO meeting is at the end of June. By then, a stamp would be too late. In the 20th century, the PTT was a company whose stamps received approval from the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management. Due to privatization, it is now primarily a sale of pictures. In Germany, stamps are still something of the Ministry of Finance, and you still see the traditional variety of subjects, some of which are also of national importance.

    The publication "The Netherlands is such a banana republic" is a publication solely for the money. Social, traditional, and historical subjects are pushed aside. Just make it lighthearted with lots of pictures. Appalling.

  11. I collect Finland. After privatization, they indicated there that they wanted to focus more on the present and less on history and commemorations. A large part of the new issues consists of the same type of poetry pictures. You notice with various postal administrations that they want to spend less money on stamps and limit services.

  12. There were reports that when the Netherlands was issuing around 100 stamps or more a year, it was too little from a business perspective. 20-30 stamps a year was definitely too little. I remember going to the post office through snow and ice for a new stamp. State Lottery 1976. It was heavily loss-making for an 11-year-old boy to come and buy a small stamp at the counter.

  13. The issuance program has changed!
    The PostEurop (Europa) issue of May 9 is now titled 'Fibula of Dorestad'. The word PostEurop is no longer included.
    The 'Camping in the Netherlands' issue has been moved from May 9 to June 10.
    The 'Postcrossing 20 Years' issue scheduled for June 10 has been cancelled. Or is it being postponed to the second half of the year? After all, the anniversary is in July. PostNL knows that this stamp will sell well. Perhaps it was postponed by a month due to a possible tariff increase on July 1?

  17. The Postcrossing 20 Years issue will be released on July 14. In the original program, this was scheduled for June 10. See my comment from March 11.
    Further in the second half of 2025, as far as is known:
    August 11, New Dutch Design, making music as a ritual.
    September 22, New Dutch Design, dancing as ritual.

    For example, 75 years of the Moluccan people in the Netherlands or 800 years of Duivenvoorde Castle?

    So, issue date November 10 and price €24,20. The December rate is then €1,21.
    That's just as much as the standard rate was for the first half of this year…
    The “embargo” is definitely until Monday morning at 8:00, or is Bate allowed to write about it as early as Sunday?

  34. Jan, a nicer and sharper image can be found at Kruidvat. https://www.kruidvat.nl/postnl-decemberzegels-2025/p/6386714 . It has been on the site since yesterday. There is an embargo on the images until November 10th. Apparently, PostNL doesn't consider that so important anymore. In the past, you had to sign to obtain the images under embargo, and you also signed for a princely fine if you flouted the embargo! But yeah, that was in the past.
