The name of the orchid is located below the depicted stamp. New orchid species in Thailand are often named after members of the Thai royal family. A block containing the 7 stamps was also released. During the exhibition, a special folder was released containing 7 envelopes, 7 postcards, and 2 blocks. These blocks differ from the block available for purchase at post offices. The post office version of the block bears the text 'Amazing Thailand', has a 3-digit control number, and a retail price of 30 baht. One of the exhibition blocks bears the text 'Amazing Thailand', and the other reads '3rd Siam Paragon Bangkok Royal Orchid Paradise 2009'. The blocks have a 5-digit serial number that is identical on both blocks in the folder. The retail price of the folder was 120 baht. thailand_flower_orchid_block_exhibition Features Issue date: June 5, 2009 Postage value: 7 x 3 baht Stamp circulation: 900.000 (90.000 sheets of 10) Block circulation: 100.000 Exhibition block circulation: unknown Printing technique: Offset Printer: Thai British Security Printing Public Company Limited Designer: Mayuree Narknisorn thailand_bloem_orchidee_vel

  1. Nice, Lars! Orchids are a popular collecting subject, I think; do you collect them? To be honest, I find the stamps a bit on the sweet side, but that suits modern orchids, which are often cultivated.

Personally, I find the stamps with orchids from Tanzania very beautiful.

The Netherlands has at least one orchid garden, if not more; I still haven't visited it, but it seems well worth a visit!
