'May the Force be with you' corresponds to May 4th. Based on the English pronunciation of the date 'May the Fourth', May 4th was chosen by Star Wars. fans worldwide to celebrate the holiday. The meaning of this expression can be equated with “good luck” or “God be with you”. England, the United States, Portugal, Australia, and Togo have issued Star Wars stamps.  

 

History of Star Wars Day

The first recorded reference was the expression that was first used on May 4, 1979, the day on which Margret Thatcher became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Her political party, the Conservatives, placed a congratulatory advertisement that read: “May the fourth be with you, Maggie. Congratulations.” In 2011, the first organized celebration of Star Wars Day took place in Toronto, Canada, at the Toronto Underground Cinema. The festivities included an Original Trilogy Trivia Game Show; a costume contest with celebrity judges; and the best tribute films, mash-ups, parodies, and remixes from the web on the big screen. 

Since 2013, The Walt Disney Company has officially celebrated the holiday with various Star Wars events and festivities at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Disney had purchased Lucasfilm in late 2012, including the rights to Star Wars. The finale of The Clone Wars was made available on Disney+ on May 4, 2020. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, as well as an eight-episode documentary series titled Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, were also made available on Disney+ on the same day. A new animated series, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, also premiered on Disney+ on this day in 2021.

 

England 2015 / 2017

One of England's best-selling stamps. Royal Mail succeeded in binding non-collectors with this issue. In fact, in England, Star Wars has even become a veritable religion! A bullseye with these beautiful designs illustrated by British artist Malcolm Tween. The issue took place on October 20, 2015, coinciding with the release of the 7th Star Wars film towards the end of 2015.

Darth Vader: The terrifying black-armored figure of Darth Vader emerged when Anakin Skywalker fell to the dark side of the Force and fought his own Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, on the volcanic planet Mustafar. Yoda: The wise and mighty Jedi Master Yoda presided over the Jedi High Council before the dark days of the Empire. His lineage, even his species, is shrouded in mystery, although it is known that he trained Jedi for more than 800 years. Obi-Wan Kenobi: Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi trained the young Anakin Skywalker and served alongside him in the Clone Wars against the rising Empire. Unfortunately, he could not prevent Anakin's fall to the Dark Side. Stormtroopers: White-armored Stormtroopers were the feared soldiers of the Empire, used to subjugate populations in the galaxy and tasked with tracking down and defeating suspected rebel fighters. Have Solo: Han Solo, a veteran smuggler and rogue, came into contact with the Rebel Alliance after meeting Luke and Leia Skywalker. His legendary flying skills on his ship, the Millennium Falcon, played a crucial role in battles against the evil Galactic Empire. King: Three decades after the Battle of Endor, Rey earns a living by cleaning up on the desert planet Jakku. However, she is soon catapulted into the heart of a new crisis in the galaxy. Princess Leia: Luke Skywalker's twin sister, Leia escaped detection by her father, Darth Vader, and became the leader of the Rebel Alliance, which ultimately brought about the destruction of the Empire. Keizer Palpatine: The Emperor was a Sith Lord, a user of the deadly dark side of the Force, who ruled the galaxy with an iron fist. As Senator of Naboo and subsequently as Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, he escaped suspicion for a long time; even the Jedi were blinded by his deceit. Luke Skywalker: Luke Skywalker's uncle and aunt raised him on the deserted and remote planet Tatooine. When it was discovered that a droid purchased by Luke's uncle contained a message from Princess Leia, Luke embarked on a journey to a new, exciting world. Boba Fett: With a reputation as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy, Boba Fett was handsomely paid to track down wanted persons – and often kill them. Clad in battered Mandalorian armor, loaded with secret weapons and a jetpack, Fett always brought in his bounty. Finn: Finn was a Stormtrooper in the First Order forces until he was stranded on the planet Jakku. There, an unlikely alliance with the local scavenger Rey sets in motion a series of events that will influence the fate of the entire galaxy. Kylo Ren: As the First Order emerges from the remnants of the defeated Empire, Kylo Ren becomes a new symbol of terror, with his dark hood and cloak and his mastery of a new type of lightsaber with three red blades.

X-Wing Starfighter: This versatile and agile Incom T-65 X-wing starfighter was used by the Rebel Alliance in their fight against the Empire. It was piloted by an astromech droid and armed with laser cannons and proton torpedo launchers, balancing speed and firepower. First Order Special Forces Tie Fighters: The elite First Order starfighter pilots have access to specialized vessels, such as these two-seat TIE fighters equipped with improved weapons and sensor systems. Tie Fighters: Aboard Imperial Star Destroyers and battle stations, TIE fighters are single-pilot vehicles that are perfect for high-speed aerial combat with Rebel X-wings and other starfighters. Resistance X-Wing Starfighters: The modern incarnation of a classic design, the Incom T-70 X-wing fighter, is the signature combat vessel of the Resistance forces in their fight against the First Order. Millennium Falcon: The Millennium Falcon, a thoroughly modified Corellian light freighter, is a legend in smuggling circles and is coveted by many as the fastest piece of junk in the galaxy.

In 2017, another Prestige Stamp Book was published by Royal Mail.

American editions

2007 In May 2007, to mark the 30th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: A New Hope, USPS released a sheet. The stamps, featuring illustrations by Drew Struzan, were unveiled during Star Wars Celebration IV in Los Angeles. The sheet contains 15 premium 41¢ stamps featuring famous characters and vehicles from the six films in the saga:

• Darth Vader.
• Luke the air walker.
• Han Solo as Chewbacca.
• Princess Leia Organa en R2-D2.
• C-3PO.
• Yoda.
• Obi Wan Kenobi.
• Keizer Palpatine.

    2021 The first characters fans meet in the first 'Star Wars' film, 'Star Wars: A New Hope', are droids – namely C-3PO and R2-D2 – and droids play a crucial role throughout the 'Star Wars' galaxy. With 10 dazzling new, character-inspired stamps, the Postal Service pays tribute to beloved droids from the “Star Wars” galaxy and the imagination that brings these technological wonders to the screen. The droids, who tell more than four decades of innovation and storytelling, are IG-11, R2-D2, K-2SO, DO, L3-37, BB-8, C-3PO, a GNK (or Gonk) power droid, 2-1B surgical droid, and C1-10P, commonly known as “Chopper.”

This set of droids is a nod to both Lucasfilm's and its parent company, Disney's, commitment to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning, and the ongoing collaboration between “Star Wars: Force for Change” and the global pre-K-12 non-profit organization “FIRST” (for the inspiration and recognition of science and technology). Lucasfilm, the studio behind “Star Wars,” celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2021.

Star Wars is an American epic space opera and film series created by George Lucas and produced by his company Lucasfilm. Star Wars consists of three completed trilogies, Two standalone films, one live-action series, and multiple animated series. The first two trilogies have undergone various post-productions over the years. Combined, the films were nominated for 21 Oscars, winning ten.

Star Wars premiered in 1977 and almost immediately became a cult classic. Now in 2017, 40 years later, Star Wars remains one of the most financially successful films of all time. A total of 12 films have been made: 9 films from the trilogies, 2 anthology films and 1 animated film. The twelve theatrical films collectively grossed over ten billion US dollars as a film series.

The series portrays a universe set in a galaxy described as far, far away. It depicts the Jedi as a representation of good, battling the Sith, their evil counterpart. Their weapon of choice, the lightsaber, is widely recognized in pop culture. The fictional universe also contains many themes, particularly influences from philosophy and religion. An example of this is the force.

There is no correct definition of what The Force (The Power) is exactly what it is, but in the original trilogy it is described by Yoda as a force that connects everything and brings life. According to the mythology created by George Lucas, midi-chlorians float around everywhere: particles smaller than atoms, yet they hold the key to all the mysteries the world possesses. Among other things, they are responsible for life and death. Every living being is born with a certain level of these midi-chlorians, and if the level is very high, it is sometimes said that “The Force is strong within him”.
