Long stamps or Name stamps Dutch East Indies
Just like the Netherlands, the Dutch East Indies also produced stamps cancelled with long cancellations. More information regarding this—and their value—can be obtained using the catalogues by Storm van Leeuwen* and Bulterman*. However, sometimes the place names are not found. This is because both catalogues are based on cancellations made as auxiliary offices. The long cancellations were often used as administrative stamps, such as on a telegraph form or parcel slip.
For instance, I could not find some places in the catalogues, at least in the value indications: Dabosingkep, Djarang Manggoe, Djeroek Legi, Membangmoeda, Modjosarie, Pandeglang, Sokka, Tjipari. So, it's time to search the internet! I found two; I leave the rest to you. Here they are:
DABOSINGKEP
On the island of Singkep, which shares the same name but is located at a different site than the town of Singkep, lies Dabo(singkep). In 1938, the Dabosingkep auxiliary post office, falling under Tandjongpinang, was established there, which was built entirely at the expense of the Singkep Tin Company.(source**) On Malacca and Riau no. 4. 4ct you will find an image of a tin dredger.
DEVELOPING MOEDA
The cancellations are believed to be EMERGENCY stamps from the Dutch authority period 1947-1949. This site was one of many large rubber plantations covering over 3000 hectares. The owner was the Dutch “NV Rubber Cultuur-Mij. Amsterdam”. This place had its own train station in 1937. The enterprise later went up in flames, likely due to the application of the “scorched earth policy” following the takeover by Japanese or Republican authority. I have only been able to find one from DABOSINGKEP, but several from MEMBANGMOEDA.
