Collectors of the Space theme can expand their already impressive collection on July 20 with a special issue. On that day, the United Nations Postal Administration issues six sheets, each containing ten stamps, and three sheets featuring a single large image of a historical event, on the occasion of the annual International Moon Day. The six sheets with ten stamps have values ​​of 0,73 dollars, 1,65 dollars, 1,20 CHF, 1,90 CHF, 0,95 euros, and 1,20 euros. All six sheets containing extensive information have a print run of 12.000. And then the three large sheets containing 1 stamp (mintage 17.000), each marking a special event in the history of space travel. Values ​​$1,65, CHF 2,50, and €1,90. The New York sheet with a value of $1,65 (Apollo 11) features a particularly beautiful image of the moment man took the first step on the moon, July 24, 1969. The Geneva sheet is dedicated to the Russian spacecraft Luna 2, with which the first landing on the moon was successful. And finally, on the Vienna sheet valued at €1,90, the Chinese Chang'4, which was launched on December 7, 2018, and landed on the far side of the moon on January 3, 2019. According to a report from the Musikgruppe Musik, the theme of Music was also very popular in 2023, both among collectors and postal services worldwide. Music stamps were issued by no fewer than 112 postal services, and 66 of them were “nominated” by the Musikgruppe, including Greece. The winner will be announced on July 31, and the designer will be awarded the Yehudi Menuhin Trophy 2024.
