Help2Help December stamps

Earlier this year, we already drew attention to Stichting Help2Help when they, in collaboration with Fairbooks, a beautiful butterfly stamp released. And now it is the turn of the Help2Help December stamps. The Help2Help Foundation supports projects in the slums of Calcutta and the surrounding area, primarily with food and education programs. December stamps for such a good cause as this: a lovely gesture to send your Christmas mail with!

What happens to the proceeds?

Just outside Calcutta, on the remote banks of the river, bricks are made. Entire families from the impoverished state of Bihar travel to the factories for eight months every year to work—under appalling conditions. Children as young as eight work 'simply' alongside their parents, and no one looks after the very youngest.

In early 2011, the Help2Help Foundation started a school here, allowing us to take the children away from the harsh reality for a few hours a day. In early 2012, a medical project was also launched; the children are now regularly examined by a doctor and treated if necessary. In short, the children receive a nutritious meal, learn to read, write, and do arithmetic, and undergo medical check-ups. Medical treatments are often expensive. However, the most common problem, worms, is easy and inexpensive to treat. For 1 euro, a child can be worm-free for a year. With the proceeds from two sheets of December stamps, you make this possible! With the Help2Help Foundation's December stamp, you give the children of the brick factory a chance at a better future!
