Flow
Flow on a postage stamp!
The animated film 'Flow' is an impressive work by Latvian director Gints Zilbalodis. This film, a collaboration between Latvia, France, and Belgium, tells the story of a young cat who, along with other animals, tries to survive in a world devastated by a massive flood. What makes Flow unique is that it is entirely dialogue-free, placing the emphasis on the animation and the compelling music, co-composed by Zilbalodis himself. Zilbalodis worked on this film for five years. His style combines minimalist animation with a profound emotional impact. Flow was acclaimed at international film festivals, including Cannes. The film also won an Oscar for Best Animated Film, a first for Latvia.

In honor of this milestone, Latvia issued a special stamp. The stamp depicts an iconic scene from the film: the cat and her companions on a small boat, surrounded by endless waters. The design symbolizes not only the resilience and cooperation central to the film, but also Latvia's pride in this cultural achievement.
With Flow, Zilbalodis has not only created a visual masterpiece but has also put Latvia on the map as a country with a thriving animation film industry.
