Cycling in Drenthe ..... on stamps.
Last January, we spent a midweek in Borger to enjoy some beautiful bike rides somewhere else. As a cycling enthusiast, it is nice to know that regional postal services exist in Drenthe as well. Even nicer is that I know a collector of regional and local stamps who sends me his new discoveries. Bert, thank you for our cycling contacts.

Print Save Regiopost from Drachten has issued a sheet of ten stamps, two of which feature a bicycle image. The slogan: “Ode to the Postmen”. They also offer the tip: Never deposit mail with our stamps in the red PTT mailbox.

How what Little WemelShe was born in 1887 and died in 1963. She was a merchant, living in a caravan. She cycled through Gasselte and the surrounding area to sell her wares.
On June 17, 1995, the statue depicted on this regional stamp was completed in Gasselte. 
That was a nice week in Drenthe. Recently, we spent a midweek in Central Limburg. We enjoyed some lovely cycling there too, but didn't come across any cycling statues and/or bicycle stamps.
