The Belgian occupation of Eupen
The canton of Eupen comprised the post offices of Astenet, Eupen 1 and Eupen 2, Eynatten, Herbestal, Hergenrath, Kettenis, Lontzen, Moresnet, and Raeren. For these post offices, a series of stamps with the overprint 'Eupen' was made available from March 20, 1920.
The series with the imprint 'Eupen & Malmédy' with German values was declared invalid effective March 28, 1920.
The series consisted of many more values than the original overprint series. For the low values, the stamps featuring an image of King Albert I were used.
The stamps featuring images of buildings were also provided with the overprint.
The values from 1 franc up to and including 10 francs with various designs completed the series.
Postage due stamps were also considered, and five values were overprinted. All overprints were applied at the Stamp Printing Office in Mechelen.
A small error occurs in the overprint for the postage due stamps: a 'broken' letter e. This error can be found on all values. The stamps overprinted 'Eupen' could also be used in the canton of Malmédy. The series lost its validity for postage on April 30, 1931. After that, the generally available stamps of Belgium were used.

I enjoyed the story and references above.
I am a collector of WAR (World War II) memorabilia myself.
