In 2026, the Austrian Post honored David Alaba with a special commemorative stamp issue, thus launching the new "Sport" stamp series. The stamp block, designed by Melanie Musegg, contains two stamps.

David Alaba was born on June 24, 1992, in Vienna and is one of the most successful Austrian footballers of his generation. His career began at SV Aspern and Austria Vienna before he moved to FC Bayern Munich at the age of 16. There he developed into a versatile defender and became particularly well-known as a left-back.

Alaba won numerous national and international titles with Bayern Munich. Particularly outstanding were the Champions League victories in 2013 and 2020, each accompanied by the treble of league title, cup, and Champions League. In total, he won the German league title ten times and the DFB Cup six times.

Alaba moved to Real Madrid in 2021. In his very first season, he won the Spanish league title and the Champions League with "Los Blancos." He continued his success story in Madrid, winning further major titles, including a second Champions League with the club.

Alaba is also an important figure for the Austrian national team. Since his debut at the age of 17, he has represented Austria in numerous international tournaments and captained the team. His versatility, technical ability, and leadership qualities have made him one of the most famous Austrian footballers of our time.
