About Us

Postzegelblog was originally founded by PostNL in 2005 to establish closer contact with collectors. In 2013, PostBeeld acquired and continued Postzegelblog. In 2026, Postzegelblog was merged with the English-language blog Freestampagazine, and several features were added. Now, any philatelist can write an article in one of six languages, which can then be read by others in their own language.

PostBeeld is a stamp dealer in Haarlem (the Netherlands), founded in 1982 by Rob Smit, who remains the owner. Since 1996, PostBeeld has been assisting customers worldwide through its own extensive online store. From the very beginning, Rob had the idea that he wanted to do more than just sell stamps; he also wanted to offer philatelic support. Therefore, in addition to the online store, a free worldwide catalogue, www.freestampcatalogue, was launched in 2002. The acquisition of Postzegelblog in 2013 was a logical consequence of this. Since 2023, PostBeeld has also been organizing small but fun monthly auctions. Fun, because the auctions offer as many unique items as possible that you won't find in the webshop.

In June 2026, we launched this Freestampagazine in six languages. Together with the webshop, the catalogue, and the auctions, PostBeeld now presents itself as an all-round philatelic company and philatelic information provider.

Our goal is to activate and support more collectors worldwide with this new Freestampagazine. We hope that you will make use of this as well, perhaps by submitting a blog post of your own. If you would like to contact us, we can be reached via the PostBeeld contact form.
