Special NVPH catalogue 2014 will be published on September 11.

  From September 11, the new NVPH special catalogue of the Netherlands & Overseas Territories is once again available at your NVPH dealer. As every year, the catalogue's foreword provides a clear overview of the adjustments. It reads as follows This edition once again contains a number of significant changes and another one-off section. The most important changes are: – A one-off chapter on Short Bar Cancellations with 12-hour characters, compiled by Cees Janssen and previously unpublished. – For the first time, a price listing of the rare Netherlands No. 5, Plate II. – A clearer breakdown of perforations and types of the 2nd issue Netherlands postage due stamps, as well as the addition of mint prices for these and other postage due stamps. – Inclusion of the latest issues from the Netherlands, Caribbean Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten. – Inclusion of various new plate errors, provided by Jan van Wilgenburg. – Various text changes and improvements, partly in response to submitted comments.

The catalogue committee has adjusted various price listings, primarily for classic and very modern material. Despite the crisis, which is now clearly felt in the Netherlands as well, the market for higher-quality material remains particularly strong, including at auctions. This applies to a much lesser extent to the market for more general material, particularly from the period 1940-2000. The supply of this material is often greater than the demand, resulting in stamps regularly being sold below and collections regularly significantly below their catalogue value. For the cheaper stamps and series, an increasingly large part of the price is determined by 'handling costs'. PostNL has announced that postage stamps with guilder values ​​will lose their validity as of November 1, 2013. At the time of the editorial closing of this catalogue, legal proceedings regarding this matter are still ongoing. Consequently, we have not yet adjusted the validity designation (EC: indefinite) for the stamps from the period 1977-2001, as well as numbers 939-958 and 1108-18. All prices for unused and mint stamps in this catalogue apply to specimens with original gum. We wish to emphasize that an apparently mint stamp, yet with a newly applied layer of gum (re-gummed), is worth no more than an unused stamp without gum. In practice, this is at most half the value of an unused specimen with original gum and an adhesive backing. Such inferior material is regularly offered, not infrequently via internet channels. In case of doubt, you can consult an NVPH dealer or submit the stamps for inspection to the NVPH Inspection Committee. At this moment, the finishing touches are being put on another extensive NVPH publication, namely the 2nd edition of the NVPH Specialty Catalogue. The publication of this expanded and revised edition is scheduled for December 2013. R32 reaches a new milestone.  One of the most sought-after Dutch stamps has reached a new milestone in the upcoming NVPH catalogue of stamps from the Netherlands & Overseas. For many collectors, it is an obsession: the 7 1/2 cent '3-hole roller perforation' from 1927. In mint condition, this stamp has now reached a catalogue price of 10.000 euros. This fits the trend of recent years, in which the better and rarer stamps fetch higher prices time and again. This, incidentally, stands in stark contrast to the average material.
