The whole world comes to Delfzijl in June, where an unforgettable experience awaits both visitors and crews at DelfSail 2024. Since the first edition in 1986, DelfSail has evolved into a magnificent sailing event without equal. DelfSail distinguishes itself through the unique location of the harbor right next to the center of Delfzijl. DelfSail is also celebrated exuberantly in that center.
From majestic Tall Ships to maritime heritage
Dar Mlodziezy has been owned by the Gdynia Maritime Academy since her construction in 1982. Her name means “the gift of youth,” and she replaced the magnificent frigate Dar Pormoza, which had trained future officers of merchant and fishing fleets for more than fifty years.
She proved to be a successful sailing training ship, and in the subsequent years five sister ships were built: Druzhba, Chersonses, Mir, Nadeshda, and Pallada. She has graced the Tall Ships' Races with her presence for some 25 years. Her debut was in 1982. She has traveled the world, including Australia's 200th anniversary in Sydney in 1988.
